  • Creating Drafts

This week I have been working on completing my draft pages for my magazine. I have begun work on creating a contents page and a feature article page for the magazine. I have also spent some time adding text to my front cover. I have been able to accomplish creating the draft versions which will be useful to me in the coming weeks as I look to complete my magazine.

Next week I am going to be producing final versions of my magazine pages, I hope to be able to have my magazine finished ahead of schedule so that I can create any adjustments to it before I am due to start evaluating my work.

  • Creating Magazine Cover

I spent the last week producing my magazine cover, I used the photos I had taken and selected one which I felt was appropriate. I then placed it onto my magazine cover with the help of editing skills such as changing the brightness and contrast. I also decided to place an album cover onto one of my images, I used the 'perspective' tool to angle the album cover so that it aligned neatly onto the iPod in my image. I have learnt a number of skills to do with image editing which have proven useful for my magazine.

In the coming week I am going to be producing draft versions for the remaining pages of my magazine. I hope to have it completed in order to begin final work on completing my magazine.

  • Taking photographs

I spent the last week taking my photographs in a number of locations. I have practiced my photography techniques and have tried to take into account factors such as lighting and composition. This was useful as it has allowed me to produce photos which I hope are suitable for a magazine cover.

In this coming week I am going to be editing the photographs and placing them onto my magazine cover. I hope to create a professional-looking magazine by editing the photographs appropriately, I am aiming to use techniques such as changing the brightness / contrast of images, as well as cropping and rotating.

  • Draft version of magazine cover

In the last week I have completed a draft version of my magazine cover, as well as producing a magazine logo. This has allowed me to create a template in which my magazine is ready for a photograph to be attached to it. This is useful as it means I am free to go and take my photographs in the coming week and can place them straight onto my draft cover in order to see which looks most appropriate.

In the coming week I am going to be taking my photographs in the library. This will allow me to begin work on my first version of my magazine cover and will also allow me to begin work on draft versions for my feature article and other pages.

  • Paper-based forms

In the last week I completed all of the required forms relating to arranging my magazine and photographs. I have accomplished a number of tasks such as location recces, risk assesments, equipment booking, crew / cast lists and prop lists. All of this information was useful as it has allowed me to create a plan in which to work to. I have arranged dates for when I hope to get tasks complete, such as taking the photographs.

In the coming week I am going to start work on my first draft version of my magazine cover. I hope to experiment with a number of my proposed layouts to see which will be most effective. I am also going to create a logo for my magazine, this will give my magazine a professional appearance.

  • Completing Presentation

This week I completed my presentation to other students in my class, the presentation itself went well and I received a number of positive comments regarding my magazine. It allowed me to find out that my proposed ideas for the magazine were successful and that they would be well received by the general public. It was useful as it has given me definite plans for the design and content of my magazine.

This coming week I am going to be completing a number of the forms which are required prior to starting work on my magazine. These include equipment release forms, location recces and prop lists. I will be needing these as they will help me organise when and how my magazine will be developed, including the arranging and taking of photographs.

  • Preparing for presentation

I have spent the last week preparing for my presentation by gathering all the necesasary paperwork that needs to be handed in for the deadline. I have also completed a number of handwritten forms which accompany the presentation.

This coming thursday I am going to be performing my presentation so will be spending the next couple of days rehearsing and practicing my notes which support my presentation.

  • Completion of presentation

In the last week I have completed my powerpoint presentation, the final version is 13 slides in length. I tried to ensure that my powerpoint contained as little writing as possible, with emphasis on bullet points. I have learnt more about the presentation of powerpoint slides and how little information should be contained on them whilst making them interesting for the audience, this was useful as it has allowed me to create a suitable powerpoint presentation.

My powerpoint slides were reviewed by one of my class mates who rated the majority of the features in my presentation as 'Excellent'. During this coming week I am going to be practicing my presentation skills ready for Thursday when I will be presenting my slides to the class. I hope to find out how my magazine pitch is received by other students, whether it would be a realistic design and if I need to make any design or content changes.

  • Production of final presentation

I am going to be spending this coming week completing my power point presentation, I am going to enter all the information that I have obtained into the slides. Any excess relevent information will be used as note material which I will use whilst performing my presentation.

I am hoping to produce a powerpoint presentation which makes good use of slide transitions and some subtle effects to make the presentation appear interesting. I have completed the Excel spreadsheet which contains the information obtained from my questionnaires, I will create suitable charts which can be used in the presentation.

Last week I entered my data from the questionnaires onto an Excel spreadsheet, I made a small number of charts. It has allowed me to see the opinions of those questionned to help me decide what should be included in my magazine.

  • First blog of new term

During this week I am going to be producing the output from my completed questionnaires. I am going to use the data to display the results in a number of charts. I will then write a brief analysis of these results to put onto my presentation. I am also going to start filling out my presentation by adding my work from previous weeks onto the presentation.

Last week I produced notes relating to the Press Complaints Commission, this helped me find out what aspects my magazine would have to abide by in order to avoid receiving complaints. I learnt about topics such as discrimination and privacy, which are key areas in which my magazine would have to be aware.
